Random thoughts on the cosmos and advances in technology
Stephen Dare is a writer, restaurateur, chef, arts and civic advocate with a background in urban development, planning, neighborhood revitalization and pure old fashioned Southern gossip.
A serial entrepreneur since the 1980s, he has opened cafes, restaurants, theatres, art galleries, nightclubs and a series of publications ranging from print and online to (most recently) VR and spatial projects.
He is a screenwriter and television writer with experience in genres as diverse as an HP Lovecraft inspired film script to work in European and Asian Fashion television broadcast with Fashion1 TV
Most recently he served as the editor in chief for Fashionweek, com, StarsandCelebs.com and the classic Horror website, Chud.com.
He is the founding editor of MetroJacksonville.com and is currently the programming director for Newsroom Jacksonville..
A native of Jacksonville Florida, he has spent a lifetime pondering the mysteries of Southernness, politics and fried chicken. Which are often the same goddam thing in Jax.
Today our discussion centered around the cosmos and technical scientific advances.
Maybe Love is some evidence, some artifact of a higher dimension that we can’t consciously perceive.

The Metaverse: “This (The Metaverse) is something that will be much much much bigger than the internet, or social media, and its so large and profound that its hard to explain to people until the have been engaged with it, much like computers and the internet were when they first appeared in our society.”
Magna Exsiliunt: “SpaceX successfully launched a totally non government funded, non military controlled manned mission into actual space (not the high atmosphere) on a private vessel that will return to Earth. The New Gilded Age has produced another generation of private wealth where individuals can obtain more money and power than entire governments and the private titans are focused on the stars. In fact this company has as one of its stated aims, “Making Humanity into a Multiplanet Species.”This is one of those moments which seems ‘interesting’ at the time, but which will literally be remembered for centuries.”
Perspective: “We call the Galaxy that contains our star (the sun) and planet (right now, it’s just Earth) ‘The Milky Way”But the entire Milky Way Galaxy is just a tiny part of a much larger structure. A much MUCH larger structure. The yellow structure is the Laniakea Supercluster, which contains about 100,000 galaxies. The red dot in the image is the Milky Way “our home” which contains about 300 billion stars, including our Sun. The red dot massively over covers our entire 3 billion star galaxy. The Entire Milky Way Galaxy. The entire Laniakea (Hawaiian for ‘immense sky’) Supercluster, isn’t even one of the largest superclusters. Like…..by far.”
