Bonus Episode-Special Guest: Melanie Jo Dilorenzo, Professional Drummer-w/ Co-host Shelton Hull-Pt-1
Melanie Jo is a professional drummer based out of Los Angeles, CA. We sat down with her recently via ZOOM for a candid conversation.
“After she picked up her first pair of sticks at the age of 14 Melanie knew she wanted to make a career being a drummer. She majored in Jazz drumming at The University of North Florida, studying drums with Jazz legend Danny Gottlieb. While attending UNF she was playing and touring around Florida and much of the South East with various artists and bands. After graduating UNF Melanie packed up and moved to sunny Los Angeles, Ca. For the short time she has been living in L.A. she has played gigs at all of L.A.’s famous clubs such as The Whiskey A Go Go, The Viper Room, and The House of Blues. In 2015 she started touring with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top in his solo band Billy Gibbons and the BFG’s. They toured all over the U.S. and played at the 2015 Havana Jazz Festival in Cuba. From that tour they made a documentary Billy Gibbons and the BFG’s: Cuba about their historic trip to Havana. In summer of 2018 she played with Slash, Nancy Wilson, Robert Randolph and more at the Beastly Ball.” – https://zildjian.com/melanie-dilorenzo.html
