Jacksonville Bicentennial Celebration – Take ‘Em Down Jax/Anti-Racism Rally 6-11-22 – Contrast Project Lounge podcast – S3 – Ep5
* Jacksonville, Florida celebrates it’s 200th birthday with the Bicentennial Celebration in downtown jacksonville. The festival began at historic James Weldon Johnson Park with pop up vendors, food, beverages and entertainment. It continued down Laura Street to Jacksonville Riverfront Plaza. There was a free concert followed by a display of fireworks.
* Festivities were lackluster due to the ongoing lowball funding of city government.
* A protest coincided with the festivities on the steps of City Hall.
* Members of Take ’em Down Jax and the Northside Coalition organized the rally. They are racial injustice warriors who want the truth about the bicentennial known. They have been also long fighting to have all confederate monuments taken down.
** We will be following.
* Closing thoughts: Be kind, take care of yourselves and each other.
Until next time, Peace.
